Laura B. Whitmore is the founder of the The Women’s International Music Network, an organization that advocates for girls and women in the music and audio industries. The producer and co-host of the annual She Rocks Awards, she honors female role models in the industry. She hosts workshops, panels and events throughout the country aimed at inspiring and educating female musicians and industry members. A singer/songwriter and guitarist, she performs regularly in the Boston, MA area and throughout the northeastern U.S., and hosts local open mics and a house concert series called Acoustic Kitchen. A journalist, she writes regularly for music industry publications including Guitar World, Acoustic Guitar Magazine, In Tune Magazine, Music Inc, and others. She co-hosts a series of live interviews through her partnership in Backstory Events that appear on AOL.com, twitch.tv, Parade Magazine and more, and has interviewed hundreds of women in music. Jenna Paone is a songwriter, pianist, and vocalist based in Los Angeles. Originally from Boston, MA, Paone built a name for herself as a solo artist whose music blends classic pop, soul, blues, and folk rock into her own modern brand of “Vintage Pop.” A renaissance woman, Paone boasts over two decades of training and education in classical and contemporary piano, voice, ballet, and theater that includes a degree in Musical Theater from Syracuse University’s School of Visual and Performing Arts. She has shared the stage with international artists such as The Bangles, Colbie Caillat, Orianthi, Lita Ford, and more, and her music has received airplay on regional radio stations and has been featured in independent films. In addition to her work as an artist, Paone co-founded Boston GLOW (Girls’ Leadership, Organized Women), a Massachusetts nonprofit that creates empowering opportunities for girls and women. During her five years as Director of Strategy, she designed and ran many of GLOW’s most successful initiatives, such as their ongoing Spitfire networking series, and forged partnerships with community businesses and organizations as well as local and federal legislators.
